The leveling system relies on an algorithm we designed "role bot" that looks at the job title and salary and makes its best guess as to where that employee lies within our universal leveling system. My understanding is that this is based on what current users are doing within the system. You can edit the role by selecting the three dots next to the employee on the report page and changing the default selection.
