Hey Kesem - please add mobile approvals for Board Consents too - my board asked for this recently.

Thanks for that insight, Kasen.
What you say makes sense, but from a board member's perspective, they do not want to approve some board consents (409a, option grants, etc.) via one tool (Carta) & other board consents (approving audited financials, approving the budget, etc.) via another tool (Docusign). So going half-in on a board consent product is confusing.
ill also push back a bit on your comment that developing a full-service boardroom tool was never really the intention. Note that you do have multiple Boardroom tools (Board Member management, Board Groups, Board Consents, Board Documents, Board Meetings)
The pricing page advertises Board Consents & a Board Member platform - with no caveat that it is really to only be used for equity-specific tasks.

Hi David,
Thanks for the feedback!
For context, the Board tool in Carta was designed and created solely with the intention of easing board approval around equity-specific tasks (such as approving a batch of option grants and/or 409a valuations - things that are directly related to your Carta experience). So you're absolutely right that it has some limitations, and certainly could be more robust, but developing a full-service boardroom tool was never really the intention.
We haven't announced any plans to improve the boardroom experience at this point, but will definitely pass along your feedback for consideration.

I really like the 409 & option grant functionality within Board Consents. That's mostly the reason why I use it - for that automation.
But the lack of robust formatting & the limitations I specified above, make it more difficult to use than beneficial.
when was the last time the Carta team added any code/features to this Board Consents product? Is Carta still actively developing it or has it been pushed to the back burner?

David, I'm loving seeing the feedback here. As you know, I'm no internal Carta person, but I'd love to know what other features would be helpful to see in the board consents feature. I've found it super useful with clients in terms of 409A and option grant approvals after we've done the initial setup of the template. But I haven't used it for any other approvals besides those two.

Does anyone use the Board Consents feature successfully?
We use the Board Consents feature, but it is fairly half baked with a lot of limitations.
- No ability to upload a word doc (if prepared by Legal Counsel) or export (for review by Legal Counsel)
- Limitations on text/doc formatting (Google Docs & Word are much better)
- Board is always confused why they have to log into Carta & it is not a Docusign (board members are used to Docusign from all of their other boards)
Honestly - not sure why we use the Board Consents feature at all - I don't think we get any positive benefit from it at all. Would love for someone at Carta to make the case as to why anyone should use this feature.
