Diagnosing common grant errors

Wrong grant date, wrong share count, wrong exercise price — if the employee hasn't accepted yet, you can fix it directly in Carta without cancelling and reissuing.

Go to Equity Awards → find the grant → click Modify. You can update the date, share count, exercise price, and vesting schedule. Save, and the corrected version is what the holder sees when they accept.

If the employee has already accepted: You're into amendment territory — that typically means a new board consent and a re-execution by the holder. For anything beyond a minor clerical error, loop in your legal counsel before taking action.
